Our History

John boarded a plane and moved to Tanzania after experiencing a spiritual calling from God. He had never been to Tanzania, never thought of visiting, and knew almost nothing about the country. He arrived with a beat-up motorbike, a few thousand pounds in savings, and one staff member—Ali—who spoke very little English. Ali still works with the Foundation as a driver to this day.

Our Child Laborer’s Fund (originally called Uchira Children’s Fund) began its journey. In the first year alone, 111 children received full-time support.
We also founded our Animal Rescue Shelter, Kilimanjaro Animal Rescue, which rescued 20 dogs and even 3 baby hedgehogs in its first year.

In January, the first child came into our care, officially opening our doors as a children’s home. At this point, John worked with a small team of just four staff.
In July, the first special needs child arrived, carried on her homeless mother’s back as they pleaded for help. A UK fundraiser raised £2,000, allowing us to build a small two-room building—and with that, our community for single parents with special needs children was born, inspired by a dream John had.

By the end of the year, 8 special needs children and 2 able-bodied boys were living in the home. The Child Laborer’s Fund had grown to support 350 children, and the animal rescue had expanded to care for 30 dogs.

Growth continued at a rapid pace.

In May, Angels Gate—a rehabilitation center for street-involved children—was opened after meeting two boys in desperate need. With no funds on Monday and much prayer, by Friday we had enough to rent an old 26-room hostel!
By August, Angels Gate was home to 25 boys. More special needs children arrived, some with parents and some without.

By year-end, over 50 children were in our full-time care—16 of them with disabilities. Only 3 lived with their parents. We built 8 small houses to accommodate them. Angels Gate had 25 boys in school or training, all receiving counseling for trauma.

The Child Laborer’s Fund supported over 550 children. Our staff team grew to 32.
This year also marked the official registration of our UK charity: The Creator Share Foundation / Share Tanzania.

Our inclusive children’s homes for boys and girls, Kipepeo Homes, opened after 4 children in crisis were found within 48 hours: two siblings (ages 3 and 5) sleeping on the streets and two sisters (ages 4 and 6) who had lost their parents.
We hosted our first Kilimanjaro Climb, where 17 supporters raised funds for the children.

We won the "Best Small Charity of the Year" award from eBay/PayPal Giving Fund.
We also purchased a new plot of land next to our special needs village, Featherstale.

Angels Gate moved to a larger location to accommodate more children.
Next to it, we opened Angels Gate Music and Art School, providing a healing space for children who had lived on the streets.
Construction began on “Sunshine House,” our largest children’s home at Featherstale.

We also expanded housing for single mothers, welcoming more families with special needs children.

We received a generous land donation near Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania, where we laid the foundations for our Masterplan children’s village.

Our first major fundraiser for the new village came from none other than Mike Tyson.

Construction began, and we successfully found water on the new land.

We officially upgraded our Tanzanian registration from a local NGO to an international NGO.

It was a record-breaking year—109 children were rescued!
We opened a new therapy unit at Featherstale with a joyful celebration.
Renovations and expansion across Featherstale continued. We purchased 5 acres and 4 houses, increasing capacity by over 100 children.

We began construction of what will be the world’s largest children’s home for special needs children—our first big step in realizing the Masterplan. This replicable blueprint aims to provide a self-sustainable village powered by farming and business support for families, ensuring every invisible child has a home.
We can’t wait to see what else unfolds this year.
