Our Center For Street Involved Children
Why Do We Need Angels Gate?
In Tanzania, thousands of children are forced to survive on the streets. Some are as young as four years old. Poverty, abuse, neglect, or the loss of parents push children into a world where they face daily danger - sleeping rough, going hungry, and being exposed to drugs, crime, and sexual exploitation. Society sadly often sees these children as criminals, whilst we try to bring into light what they really are: children in crisis who need love, safety, and a second chance. Angels Gate exists to give them just that.
About The Center
Angels Gate is a safe home and rehabilitation center for children who have lived on the streets. It provides a nurturing environment where healing begins - offering not just shelter, but a sense of family. Just next door is our Music and Art School, where creative expression becomes a pathway for recovery. We believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.

How Do We Help The Children?
With on-going counselling, home education, and school education and 24 hour access to our on-site “big brothers” and carers, we do our best to help the boys to heal, and move on from where they have been, both physically, and mentally.
We try a very new approach to Tanzania, using male care givers, instead of the typical women. We have found these “big brothers” as we call them, interact better with the boys, and the in return the boys open up in a better way too.
Some boys of course can’t manage at school after all they have faced, and so options for vocational training, or artistic pursuits are also a necessity for their fresh start in life.

Who Are The Children & Where Are Their Families?
The children at Angels Gate come from all over the Kilimanjaro region - and sometimes beyond. Many have been abandoned, orphaned, or fled from homes marked by extreme poverty, addiction, or abuse. Others were trafficked or forced into labor.
In some cases, children simply became "invisible": pushed aside by broken systems, and left to fend for themselves. While many of these children are technically not orphans, their families are often unable or unwilling to care for them safely and once the street gets hold of children, the cycle is hard to break - which is where Angels Gate steps in.

How To Help?
Naturally the Home has running costs. 24 hour staff, clothing, medical care, food, rent and of course the education of the children who live there.
To help with these costs we have both a direct donation facility, and a child sponsorship program too.
Share with one of our street involved children, and help us keep the door open for other children who need a loving home and somewhere safe to stay.
Share your support with the centre, of course we as ever rely heavily on others sharing with the centre to pay for things like rent, food, our 24 hour staffing and the day to day bills 42+ b0ys can bring!
As with all we do, all our resources come from people who find us on social media, and feel moved to share with the children.

Reunification
Of course where possible we do our utmost to reunite the children with their families somehow, be it a relative, or parent. It can be a difficult process, but with some counselling it can be achieved, and in doing so provide a safe and loving home for those lucky enough to return to their loved ones and relations.
This particular child had endured such abuse and hardship that it is hard to repeat, but to understand why we must do what we do for these children, it also must be heard.

Reunification
Reunification
Whenever possible, our first goal is reunification with safe, loving family members. Our social workers investigate each child's background to assess whether reconnection is possible. If it is, we provide family counseling, support for reintegration, and follow-up visits to ensure stability.
When reunification is not possible, children can remain with us long-term and are welcomed into our broader family across our programs - ensuring they are never abandoned again.
How To Help?
Share With a Street Involved Child
Running a full-time home like Angels Gate comes with many ongoing costs - from 24-hour staff, food, clothing, and medical care, to rent and the education of each child in our care. To meet these needs, we rely entirely on the generosity of those who find us and feel moved to share. By sponsoring one of our former street-involved children, you not only provide them with a safe, loving home and a second chance at life - you also help us keep the door open for others still in need. Whether through a monthly sponsorship or a one-time donation, your support ensures that Angels Gate can continue to offer stability, healing, and hope to every child who walks through our gate.
